Erie Plating Company provides surface finishing on fasteners for use in various aerospace, military, and industrial applications.
We take pride in our care and attention to detail in dimensions tolerances, which are essential to successful fastener finishing. Our experienced finishing technicians apply visual, pre- and post-gauging, and micrometer inspections before, during, and after each stage of finishing.
Finishing consulting early, before parts are made, provides customers with the Erie Plating Company advantage – first-article concurrent engineering and consulting enhances our ability to get it right the first time.
Erie Plating Company has been pioneering the development of world-class specialty polishing and chrome plating for most of its 83-year history. Our chrome finishes can be found on motorcycles, tour buses, and other recreational vehicles, high-end bathroom and plumbing fixtures, and a variety of other applications. Making aluminum die castings, brass, and steel into beautiful, gleaming, chrome-plated fixtures is one of our passions.
Erie Plating Company works closely with major companies to apply this high-quality chrome surface finishing to various metals while at the same time providing consistently reliable delivery, working as a key member of the manufacturing-finishing supply-chain.
Recently we completed, in team partnership with one of our client companies, a 6,000-part chrome plate and polish project. These bright chrome parts will provide aesthetic and functional enhancements for the recreational boats for which they are destined. This particular job also required additional polishing capacity, bath chemistry controls, and precise plating process consistency, which we accomplished through superb teamwork of our staff, as well as concurrent engineering consulting and first-article trials. To top it off, the job was completed a full week ahead of schedule.
We regularly ship polished and cosmetic chrome-plated parts to a variety of clients across the United States, as well as to those nearby in Pennsylvania, New York, Ohio and Connecticut.
Erie Plating Company is pleased to announce the successful completion of our annual recertification to the ISO/TS 16949:2002 standards. 2008 marks the fourth consecutive year that Erie Plating has demonstrated compliance to these quality standards.
Erie Plating has been recertified by NQA for conformance to the requirements of ISO/TS 16949:2002. Our original certification was obtained in 2005 and this recent recertification demonstrates our commitment to total quality both in our metal plating and in our process management systems.
The recertification audit was completed during the week of August 18-21, 2008 and the new certification was issued in September, 2008.
Erie Plating is proud to offer the disciplines and benefits of ISO/TS 16949:2002 registration to our customers. In addition to this certification, Erie Plating is also accredited by NADCAP. Please also view our complete listing of our registrations and customer approvals.
If you have any questions about our registrations and accreditations, please contact Chris Wallen.
Why do we ask so many questions?
Sometimes, customers call us requesting a quote for a new part and tell us “I just want it anodized (or plated or passivated or polished), do it any way you want” or “Why do you ask so many questions when the other platers don’t?” That’s our point! We are not like other plating companies.
Our “thorough side” of plating approach to metal finishing requires us to identify issues that you may not even be aware of when you first contact us. Does the customer require conformance to a particular specification? Does it need to be RoHS-compliant? What are the testing requirements? What about packaging? How should we ship the part? When do you need it? Do you want a first-article trial run?
Erie Plating Company specializes in cadmium plating on high-reliability components that are used in military and aerospace (including Federal Aviation Administration) applications, as well as being available for many types of commercial hardware and custom parts. Our cadmium plating processes are designed to meet military, federal or custom plating specifications. The Erie Plating Company cadmium plating department is most experienced with QQ-P-416 Types 1, 2, and 3; AMS-2400; and ASTM-B-766 for regular cadmium plating, and MIL-STD-865 for cadmium brush plating.
We currently have available capacity for electroless nickel plating on aluminum die castings on our overhead hoist plating line. In other words, now is a great time to contact us if you need electroless nickel plating done in large capacity, particularly if you need it done extra-fast.
